My little piece of heaven...

Well we are finished painting our master bedroom... while the painting was happening I was nervous about how blue it seemed... but now that it is all put back together I am loving it! It has such a calm feeling! I just feel stress leave my body and mind when I enter the room... well until I see the bathroom that I still have to paint! LOL! But that is going to have to wait 2 weeks until dance is over. In the next four days I will be making 3 trips to sherwood park, then next week is our last week before recitals next weekend. We will be busy busy!

I just wanted to post these pics quickly before I make that first trip to S.P... so here you go... My not so 'Master' master bedroom... It is small but it fits my big bed with my super comfy duvet. That is all I need to relax! :-)

Spring... the time to renew and refresh...

I have so many home reno projects in my mind that I want to get done... I am calling it Spring Fever! I am feeling the need to start fresh... what better way to do that then to give something a fresh coat of paint! So project #1 Master Bedroom Re-Do is in full effect!

I have two small children that won't stop crying for what reason, I am not sure... The down side they are driving me crazy... the upside is Daddy is upstairs doing the painting in my master bedroom while I am trying to keep them happy! I am looking forward to seeing the end result! It is a huge color change... going from warm & brown to cool & blueish/grey... I even have photos to go in the empty picture frames that have been hanging on my walls since September! LOL!

Those of you who have seen my house know how famous I am for having mysterious children in my photo frames... I consider it a victory if I actually get the frames hung up on the wall! :-)

I got to spend the day scrapbooking yesterday! Close to 10 glorious hours of creativity! It was wonderful! I worked on some canvas's, eight if them to be exact! I just have a few finishing touches to put on them before they are ready to go! When they are done I will post pics... I just love making Canvas's. I love creating art that can be on display in your home! I have commissioned a few pieces if you are interested in one for yourself, send me an email and I will hook you up! :-)

Well it seems the little people are no longer crying and are hypnotized buy the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie! Maybe this is my chance to go sneak a peak at how my room is coming along. I am really hoping that we will be able to sleep in there tonight! LOL! I will post pics as soon as it is put back together!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

Winter Storm is on it's way....

Well here it is over a month since I have blogged. SURPRISE! I am such a bad blogger! If there was a Bad blogger award I am sure I would be in the running! But I have an excuse.... I really do! LOL! My girls are elbow deep in year end dance festivies which includes competitions, rehearsals, and photos. We have one competition left and then our weekend of recitals! I love this time of year, but it does keep up really busy!

Outside my window the rain is pouring down... it is supposed to turn into 10-20cm's of snow by tomorrow night. Oh the joys of living in Alberta... Always a big spring snow storm at least once! I don't mind the moisture since we need it sooooo badly! There are (or were before today!) firebans everywhere! But I am not so keen on seeing the white stuff again! It is wrecking havoc on my children. They have gotten so used to going outside and playing over the last few weeks and being cooped up in the house all day without an ounce of sunshine has taken it's toll on all of us! They are Cranky today!!! I think I need to rotate some toys to generate some interest and get them playing again.

I just finished up the Ribbon Rave at Savvy & Sassy... here are some of my layouts over the last 6 weeks...

I have also made a few cards

2 weeks ago I got to attend Camp Croppin in Calgary, AB... A super fun weekend of croppin, excellent classes and a little shopping with some of my favorite people! I still have lots of my classes to finish up and will post them when I have them all finished.

Well this is what the last few weeks have been about... in the next few weeks we will finish up our dance season, get Sophie in her big girl bed... watch for photos of the bed and dresser I am refinishing for her "Big Girl" Room. And just because we aren't busy enough I am going to repaint our master bedrrom & bath as well... just something to freshen up the place... I must have some serious spring fever! LOL!

Until then, I hope you get to enjoy the little things in life, like hugs & kisses from the little people in your life!

Happy Birthday to me! :-)

Well today is the day I rack up another year... 34... Seriously? I am 34? Although sometimes I feel like my body is more that of an 80yr old, creaking and cracking as I walk up and down the stairs. Inside I don't feel a day over... I can't even pick an age. I feel no different then I did 5 years ago, or 10 years ago... or even 15 years ago.. I am happier, more settled in my life but more mature? What does that mean exactly? I still take things way too seriously, but can get seriously carried away and silly when I am with my friends... So that leads me to believe the saying that age is JUST a number... it definitely does not define you... I am enjoying a movie night with my hubby (well he is playing poker on my cell phone) and my DD Katie... we are watching The Princess and The Frog. It is a pretty cute little movie. We are off to my MIL's tomorrow for a little birthday celebration! Yay for cake! :-)

Tonight at 12:01am NEW MOON is released! My DD desperately wants me to make the trip to town to go get it! I have to admit, I am not totally against it! LOL! Some of my friends didn't enjoy New Moon... I however loved it! It was so vivid and just grabbed me from the get go... does this make me 'Team Jacob'? I can't really answer that... I adore them both, which is what has made these books and movies so popular I am sure. A true love triangle at its best... I purchased some digital images from The Greeting Farm, images that bare a strong resemblance to the main characters of these films... I can't wait to make some cards for the crazed Twilight teenagers in my life... and a few of my grown up friends too! LOL! Can you say sparkly vampire?!? Can't wait!

Speaking of creating, I joined the Ribbon Rave 2010 Challenge over at Savvy & Sassy! And completed my first week challenge with time to spare! I found some photos of Sophie that I want to get finished up soon to avoid anything happening to them. They are some of the pictures that I lost from my hard drive & computer when they crashed at the end of last summer... So I started out with these ones... My baby gorilla! Sophie never crawled. She always scooted on her bum, propelling herself forward with her arm. She looked just like a little gorilla. And boy could she ever go fast! Faster then crawling could have gotten her! I loved it. My neice did the same thing. My sister and I came to the conclusion that it must have been the hard floors. We have no carpet in our house so maybe it was just uncomfortable for her? Anyhow it has made some good memories anyway! Here is my first layout for the challenge... what do you think?

Hope you enjoy it... I am off to sip a hot cappucino since I am feeling sickly thanks to my darling children who spread their wealth of germs this week with me! :-) Plus I need to stay awake for midnight! LOL!

Canvas Crazy....

Back in September I went to a day long crop, The Breast Crop Ever!, obviously a breast cancer fundraiser. It was a great day... lots of fun with some great friends! I had the opportunity to take a Canvas class from my friend Michelle from The Hope Chest... I have made a ton of canvas's before but let me tell you... This outrageously talented woman took it to and far beyond the next level for me! I loved the end result and have been putting more into my canvas's ever since! This is the Canvas we made in her class...

Here are a couple others I have done over the past couple months. I have stuck close to her design, since it just works... I have a few in my mind that I have going in circle in my head (hanging sets perhaps?) The possibilities really are endless! Now if I can just find the time to get them done! :-)

This one uses some odds and sods of embellishments I have had laying around for a while... The paper however is from the Basic Grey Ambrosia Collection. For those who know me, and my girlie ways,  you know this color combo is way out of my comfort zone! But boy do I ever love it! It is so much nicer in real life! Taking pics in my dark kitchen at night hasn't brought it much justice!

This next one uses Close To My Heart papers and embellies... we actually made it for a hostess club project. I think it went over well!

So welcome to my latest obsession!

So I am already a terrible Blogger!

Well it has almost been a month since I have had a chance to blog! Seriously, time is just flying by! I can't really say what has been going on because it has just been life.... busy kids, busy getting kids where they need to be...

I did have the chance to spend the day scrapbooking, which was super fun! My friend from Medicine Hat came for the weekend so in addition to scrapbooking we ate way too much junk and stayed up way to late... that just seems to be our thing! LOL! I was happy that my sister was able to join us... I can't remember the last time she came out scrapbooking!

I have some projects I am hoping to get crossed off my list in the next few weeks so watch for this pics! Not so much scrapbooking layouts, but lots of alterables!

I got our Valentine's Day portraits back last week! So excited about them! My little Miss Sophie was so serious all day. She barely cracked a smile the entire shoot! If you are in the Central Alberta Area and are looking for a wonderful photographer definitely look her up... Krista at Head Over Heels Photography! This photo shoot was a fundraiser for my girls dance studio... I think we are doing another in the fall so if you are interested I will keep you posted when sign ups are! You will not be disappointed!!! :-) Here is some of her work!

10 more days until the big 34! Seriously? Where has the last 10 years gone? Katie was so sweet last night. She asked me what I would like for my birthday... being the mom that I am I replied "For you to clean your room... that would be the best birthday gift ever!" LOL! When Tom packed his lunch this morning he picked up a banana that has been decorated with pen... A happy birthday greeting and cute little pictures all over it! It was tied with a ribbon and a little tag with a birthday message for me! So being the kidder that he is, he has been calling all day to wish me a Happy birthday! So sweet and thoughtful that she wanted me to have a nice breakfast on my birthday! I am just not so sure the banana will last another 10 days! Gosh I adore her!!! <3

There is just over a month to go before we head off to Camp Croppin' in Calgary! So excited for the chance to get away! And it is even looking like our dance competition schedule will be working in my favor... I am also super excited to be getting to take the Copic Certification course on the Sunday!!! My hubby still hasn't quite figured out why I am so excited to take a class about coloring. But he will get it someday! :-)

I am going to sign off now... I have to get Miss Kate fed and off to PT interviews then off to dance! I promise not to go so long between posts next time... not even sure how far and wide this blog has gone, so maybe it doesn't matter! LOL! Maybe I am the only one reading it! :-) Even so, it is good to put something down on 'the new paper' once in a while!

Happy Valentine's Day... Almost!

Well it is almost the big day.... where we get spoiled by our loved ones.... oops wrong channel. Where WE spoil our loved ones! :-) The kids had their celebrations at school and my dear friend and I had a little party for our little people while the big kids were away at school... A fun Fun day! And we get to do it all over again tomorrow! We don't really have any big plans yet for actual Valentine's Day... but I am sure a few treats later my little kiddies and not so little kiddies will feel loved regardless! My hubby will most likely be working so I will be sure to pack him an extra special lunch! Think the guys will razz him if I cut his sandwiches into heart shapes? I may just do it anyway! :-)

This year I had some great portraits taken of my kids for Valentine's Day! I have even gotten some of them out on time! :-) The rest will arrive late... but you guys should expect that of me by now! LOL! The only valentine creation I did take a photo of (Bad me!) was this super cute cupcake I made for Katie's teacher! She is such a wonderful teacher!!!

This is the second one of these sweet little things I have made. I can see it becoming a habit... I am a bit of a cupcake-aholic... on and off the lips! LOL!
"All cupcakes... All the time"
That should be my personal motto, but it kind of goes against the whole Weight Watcher's regiment I have adapted over the last few months! ;-) Although, I am pleased to report that these cupcakes are Zero Calories and bring just as much joy in my soul as the real thing... There may just be hope for me yet!

If you are interested in trying to make one of these sweet little treats you can check out the tutorial on youtube.com or follow this link The Stamp Goddess

Well that is it for today... I am off to Calgary and a quick stop at Ikea (One of my favorite places!)

A New Blog, A New Year

Well I am trying my hand at blogging once again! LOL! I tried this a couple years back and failed miserably! I don't even remember where to find my other blog, or what it was even called! I am feeling a little more confident this time around... don't ask me why!!! :-)

Check back often, I am going to do my best to keep my artwork posted on a regular basis as well as update my own families adventures! My goal this year is to increase the time I spend in my craft room creating things that make me happy! There never seems to be enough time in the day to get much created so I find myself hovering over my desk during the wee hours of the morning... Makes for a tired mommy come 7am, but it works for me... once I have had my caffiene that is!

Thanks for stopping by... watch for some upcoming artwork posts!
